The Hunger Game Book Review by Eliana Frank

The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is set apocalyptic world. Katniss Everdeen, a 16 year old girl with a little sister and a mother who can’t support them, is chosen for the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a killing “sport” where a bunch of rich people throw children into an enclosed area to kill each other just for the fun of watching them. There can only be one surviver.

The majority of the people who have read this book say that they enjoyed it. Sally Carbonara, the school librarian says the book was suspenseful and creative. “I like that Katniss does what she thinks she should do, instead of doing what everyone thinks she should do.” When asked how she compared the movie to the book, she replied that there was no comparison. “The movie was good, but didn’t show any emotion.”

I recommend the book if you are interested in fiction survival stories. If you read sci-fi fantasy, you might also like this enjoyable book. Try seeing the movie AND reading the book, and you can compare them too.
