SALA

For seventh period on Mondays, the entire middle school participates in an activity called sala. In sala we are split up into groups by grade. At the beginning of every month everybody is in the gym and we  have an assembly about that months character traits. The character traits are respect, responsibility, citizenship, trustworthiness, and caring. Sometimes we have guest speakers who teach us about specific character traits, and being prepared for college and our future. One of the main goals of sala is to teach us about character and how much it matters. Another is to learn about different skills that are not academic such as teamwork. We learn how to be better students and better people. In sala we are considered a community and a family. Sala helps us be better people, have good character, and gives us a family like atmosphere.

Student Ipads by: Luke Smith and Colton Carry#19

The students at Hamilton have the privilege to use Ipads as tools to help with their academics. They are very useful for studying, making projects, and for having a smaller, lighter alternative for textbooks. They help save paper because students can use them to take notes and as planners. The teachers can give students quizzes on edmodo and get their grades instantly. Students and teachers can make virtual flashcards with quizlet so they can study if they are absent or need extra practice. The iPad gives the students that do not have online access, a way to go online when not at school. This will help contribute to kids learning at home.

NFL TIMES

                                    Chiefs vs. Broncos
BY: Colton Carry and Daniel Do
The Chiefs Stay 9-0 as the top team in the NFL . There next opponent will be the 8-1 Denver Broncos. The Chiefs have the defense to stop the Broncos offense, but football analyzers will probably agree that the outcome can go either way. The Chiefs will play the Broncos Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m CST time in Denver.

The Hunger Game Book Review by Eliana Frank

The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is set apocalyptic world. Katniss Everdeen, a 16 year old girl with a little sister and a mother who can’t support them, is chosen for the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a killing “sport” where a bunch of rich people throw children into an enclosed area to kill each other just for the fun of watching them. There can only be one surviver.

The majority of the people who have read this book say that they enjoyed it. Sally Carbonara, the school librarian says the book was suspenseful and creative. “I like that Katniss does what she thinks she should do, instead of doing what everyone thinks she should do.” When asked how she compared the movie to the book, she replied that there was no comparison. “The movie was good, but didn’t show any emotion.”

I recommend the book if you are interested in fiction survival stories. If you read sci-fi fantasy, you might also like this enjoyable book. Try seeing the movie AND reading the book, and you can compare them too.

What We're Listening To....Katy Perry!

Hi There! Kathy and Erika here. We'd like to tell you a little bit about the most popular pop star around: Katy Perry! Her newest song is called, "Roar." Perry described that her song was written to inspire people “to stand up for yourself and to find your strength.”
Writers: Katy Perry, Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, Bonnie McKee, and Henry Walter.

We like this song because when you feel like you aren’t strong, and anything can beat you, just listen to this song. It can also inspire you to stand up for yourself even though other people might be bigger and stronger than you. Don’t give up on yourself and stay strong!

We hope you enjoyed this music report. Stay tuned for more inspiring songs from Katy Perry and more!

Their next game against Moreau Catholic ended in a 0-0 tie. The game a few weeks later against the Terra Linda Trojans ended in an incredible 35-0 win for Novato. Their most recent game against the San Marin Mustangs (their across town rivals) ended in a 8-0 win for the Novato freshmans, which proves they are getting very good at what they do.
